The Power We Choose by Staying Silent

There is a convenient fairy tale: one man at the top is to blame for everything. It is convenient because it removes responsibility from everyone else. But power that cannot be replaced does not grow from a single office — it grows from thousands of small “I will stay quiet.”

Consent by default

Silence looks neutral. In fact it is a vote. When we look away, agree “not to get involved,” and repeat “nothing depends on us,” we do not stand aside — we choose a side. That side is later called “popular support.”

A tyrant is not a cause but a consequence. First a society permits, then it is surprised.

Responsibility is not guilt

This is not about blaming yourself. It is about taking back a small piece of your influence. Read to the end, not just the headline. Ask the uncomfortable question. Support the one who speaks aloud. Do not forward what you have not checked. Each such act is small — but the fabric of a free society is woven from exactly these.

History does not move by a hero’s push. It moves when a million ordinary people one day stop agreeing by default. This is my opinion — and an invitation to think.
