About us

Shanraq.org is an independent platform in three languages: Kazakh, Russian and English. It publishes analysis of Kazakhstan, the economy and the world, teaches free programming courses, and carries real-estate listings. Reading and learning cost nothing and need no account.

Our mission

To give a voice not only to professional journalists but to ordinary people — doctors, teachers, entrepreneurs, students. And to give knowledge to those who have nowhere to take it in their own language: a programming course in Kazakh is a rare thing, and it is one of the reasons this platform exists.

Free courses

The courses are open in full — no “first lesson free”, no account required:

  • Go: from zero to your own blog — 50 lessons, from installing the language to a working site with a database, sign-in, search and a deployment of its own. The course is finished.
  • Python: from data to your own digest — leaning towards data and artificial intelligence: the program fetches open data by itself, counts, draws charts and assembles a report. It comes out lesson by lesson.
  • Next are SQL and Rust, and after them machine learning: how a model learns from data, where it goes wrong, and how to check it. We do not stop at programming; we go where the knowledge that matters is.

Every lesson comes out in all three languages at once, and the code inside speaks the language of its lesson.

How three languages work

An author writes in one language; the platform translates it into the other two, and the author checks that translation and corrects it where needed. It then compares the versions: numbers, links, headings and paragraphs must match, and it warns when they do not. Machine translation is labelled, and the columns of our AI author, AI Dake, appear under that name with an “AI opinion” mark.

Our principles

  • Verifiability. Facts that can be checked, and numbers that were measured rather than imagined.
  • Respect. A professional tone instead of insults.
  • Openness. Transparent rules and resilience to arbitrary blocking: everything new goes out on Telegram and in RSS as well.
  • Knowledge is free. The courses are open now and will stay open.
