400,000 participants and 150,000 tonnes removed: what Astana’s autumn cleanup shows
Astana says around 400,000 residents and 15,000 organisations took part in its autumn environmental campaign, with work across almost 9,000 courtyards.
Astana’s administration has reported results from its Taza Kazakhstan autumn campaign, held from 12 September to 10 October. The city says approximately 400,000 residents and 15,000 businesses and organisations participated in cleaning, landscaping and planting. Work covered nearly 9,000 courtyards; more than 150,000 tonnes of waste were removed.
Reading the figures
The scale is substantial, but these are the organiser’s figures. The notice does not separate old illegal dumps, construction debris and ordinary household waste within the total. The 150,000-tonne figure therefore should not be presented as the result of a single cleanup day; it covers a month of different work.
The city also says 932,300 green plants have been planted since the start of 2026. Planting is not the same as survival: later data on maintenance and survival rates would show the environmental outcome.
For residents, the practical measure is the condition of their own courtyard after the campaign and whether waste collection remains reliable.
