From idea to investor in a week: Creative Shift opens in Astana

Creative industry founders are studying branding, AI and investment. What does the bootcamp offer, and what remains unproven?

A regional Creative Shift bootcamp opened in Astana on 19 October. Through 25 October, participants will study marketing, branding, uses of artificial intelligence and ways to attract investment. Kazakhstani and international experts are teaching the programme, according to the Culture and Information Ministry.

Regional bootcamps in Almaty, Shymkent and Astana have brought together more than 500 creative industry participants. Selected projects will then receive seven days of mentoring and present their work to potential investors at a Pitch Day. The programme offers exposure and contacts; it does not guarantee funding for every participant.

A creative product often struggles less with ideas than with pricing, finding customers and protecting the creator’s work. The useful measure of this bootcamp will be whether participants leave with workable sales models, agreements and measurable results after mentoring. The ministry has not announced the Pitch Day date or an investment amount.
