Tokayev reviews nuclear energy and radiation safety with Satkaliyev
The Atomic Energy Agency reported on its 2026 work, including workforce training and radioactive-waste management.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met Atomic Energy Agency Chairman Almassadam Satkaliyev on 22 October. According to Akorda, discussions covered nuclear power construction, research, specialist training and Kazakhstani participation in industry projects.
The Semipalatinsk nuclear safety zone, radioactive-waste management and the regulatory framework were also discussed. The president instructed officials to oversee the sector’s development and implementation of its strategy. The announcement does not report a new nuclear plant entering service or set a new commissioning date.
