Go: from the first line to an online shop

The book goes from the first line of Go to a working online shop. It is one example that grows with the reader: first the program prints a book’s title in the terminal, then come the price and the condition, the catalogue, the database, the server, payment, and a deployment of its own.

The programme is 42 chapters on three levels. Junior — the language and the first programs. Middle — database, HTTP, tests, tooling. Senior — resilience, performance, security and operations.

The code in the book is code that runs. Every executable chapter has a checkpoint of its own: a separate module you can build and run, and the output printed in the text is checked against the program’s real output every time the book is built.

The complete working draft contains 42 chapters. The preface and chapters 1–12 are free to read online or download as PDF, EPUB and HTML. The sample includes 18 small runnable experiments. The book is in Russian; payments in its teaching project use a sandbox without charging real money.
