Bereke Fest begins: how to check a holiday discount before paying

Republic Day and Bereke Fest promotions began in Almaty Region on October 17, local authorities say. They are scheduled through October 27, with the main wave expected October 21–27. Both groceries and other goods are included; the official announcement lists participating outlets.

What shoppers should check

The announcement does not promise the same discount in every store or on every product. Before travelling, check whether the outlet participates, which product is included and the dates of the offer. Compare the price per kilogram or litre: a bigger package is not always better value. If a loyalty card or multiple-item purchase is required, that condition should be clear before checkout.

Keep the receipt. If the shelf price differs from the register, raise it with store management first. A dated photograph of the shelf label can help document the issue. Buying unneeded goods merely to “save” money usually increases spending.

What remains unknown

The regional announcement gives no single discount rate and does not establish that the campaign will lower inflation. That would require comparable before-and-after prices and wider retail data. For now, the useful step is checking actual offers at participating shops, not assuming everything has become cheaper.
