Kazakhstan now has seven factories making water-saving irrigation equipment
The ministry reports capacity for 3,390 sprinkler machines a year, a figure that must not be mistaken for installations.
Kazakhstan has seven factories making sprinkler and drip irrigation equipment, the Water Resources Ministry said on 14 October. There were four in 2024 and five in 2025. Three are in Turkistan Region, two in Astana, and one each in Atyrau Region and Almaty.
Capacity is not deployment
Their combined stated capacity reaches 3,390 sprinkler machines annually. The ministry estimates that this could irrigate roughly 205,000 hectares. It does not mean that many machines have been sold or installed. Orders, maintenance capacity and measured water savings on farms are needed to judge real impact.
What farmers need to know
Precision irrigation can reduce waste, but results depend on the crop, soil, power supply and correct setup. Domestic manufacturing may make repairs and spare parts easier to obtain. The next test is whether equipment is affordable and pays back under each farm’s conditions.
