Pull-ups without a gym membership: Shymkent hosts Tartyl FEST
Shymkent held the open-air Tartyl FEST pull-up event, bringing together amateur and professional athletes in age and weight groups. Organisers highlighted an inexpensive route into exercise. The city has not published a precise participant total or full results.
Competition in a public space
On 7 October, Shymkent’s city administration reported that the Tartyl FEST pull-up festival had taken place at a public walking area. Professional athletes and amateurs competed in age and weight categories. Winners received commemorative prizes and certificates.
The appeal is straightforward: pull-up bars are available in many parks and courtyards, and getting started need not require a gym membership. Organisers framed the event as a way to encourage young people to be active. Dmitry Podobeda of the XIII LEGION sports group said interest in street workouts is growing in the city.
What the report does not establish
The official account describes many spectators and participants but gives no exact attendance count, complete results or age breakdown. It therefore does not support claims of a record turnout or a measurable increase in the city’s fitness.
For residents, the lasting value lies in access to safe public equipment and regular opportunities to exercise. Whether the festival has that effect will depend on what happens after the event, not on the awards ceremony alone.
