EU releases €157 million to Moldova: the reforms behind the new instalment
The European Commission has disbursed another €157 million to Moldova after assessing 18 reforms. Funding made available under the Growth Plan now totals €661 million. This conditional payment is part of a larger package, not the whole package paid at once.
On 5 October, the European Commission announced a further €157 million disbursement to Moldova under the Growth Plan. This third instalment follows its positive assessment of 18 reforms across seven areas, including economic governance, energy and social cohesion.
Putting the figures in context
The latest payment brings funding made available under the plan to €661 million. The full Growth Plan envisages €1.9 billion for 2025–2027. That does not mean the entire package has been paid: future tranches depend on conditions being met.
What matters on the ground
Residents will judge results through energy security, stronger institutions and business opportunities. The composition of individual payments should be checked in published EU and Moldovan documents, without treating loans and grants as interchangeable.
