Kazakhstan adds safety lessons to BilimClass: what families will actually see

Kazakhstan’s interior and education ministries are working with Bilim Group to add legal-awareness and drug-prevention materials to the BilimClass electronic diary. Separate areas are planned for pupils, parents and teachers. The claimed audience is potential reach, not proven participation.

From one-off talks to regular lessons

On 7 October, Kazakhstan’s Interior Ministry announced a joint project with the Education Ministry and Bilim Group to integrate the “Law and Order” programme into the BilimClass electronic diary. The ministry says the aim is to replace occasional talks with ongoing online prevention of drug-related offences among pupils.

Pupils are to receive interactive quizzes, videos and digital booklets. Parents are promised guidance on early warning signs and helpline contacts. Teachers are to get methodological resources. Webinars with specialists and online meetings with parents are also planned.

Reach is not the same as results

The ministry says the platform could reach more than 2.5 million pupils, 350,000 teachers and over 5 million parents across more than 5,000 schools. Those are potential audience figures, not counts of people who have completed the new materials. No usage or impact data were supplied.

Future topics include gambling, road and cyber safety. A meaningful test will be whether children understand and retain the material, and whether the school work continues beyond an initial upload. Such evidence has yet to be published.
