Eleven Wins, Fourth Overall: Kazakhstan Pupils Shine at Global Robotics Contest
Kazakhstan finished fourth at FIRST Global Challenge 2026 in Incheon after winning all 11 qualifying matches, its education ministry says. Teams from 185 countries took part. The result offers a concrete view of what hands-on school engineering can achieve.
Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Education said on October 12 that its national team placed fourth in the global ranking at FIRST Global Challenge 2026 in Incheon, South Korea. According to the ministry, teams from 185 countries competed. The Kazakh pupils won all 11 qualifying matches before reaching the playoffs.
The team included Hussein Maqsut, Nurtas Serik, Aspandiyar Berdali, Arnur Abdulla and Erasyl Endibay. They study at Almaty’s Gandhi School-Lyceum No. 92 and Altynsarin Gymnasium No. 159. The squad was selected through a process involving the Daryn center and USTEM Foundation.
This year’s challenge was built around wildfires. Pupils designed, built and programmed robots for tasks modeled on fire prevention and response. The ranking therefore reflects teamwork and engineering problem solving as well as machine building. Fourth place after a perfect qualifying run is a strong result, though it is not a championship win. For students inspired by the team, robotics clubs and small original projects are a practical place to start.
